Dog friendly cottages in the Yorkshire Dales

278 of the 377 properties listed in the Yorkshire Dales say dogs are welcome. The other 98 say they are not.

One more says nothing either way, so it is worth a phone call before you rule it out.

How many dogs

The limit is the merchant's own, and it is the question most listings leave you to discover at the point of booking.

  • Up to one dog 70 properties
  • Up to two dogs 170 properties
  • Up to three dogs 25 properties
  • Up to four dogs 7 properties
  • Up to five dogs 1 property
  • Welcome, no number given 5 properties

121 of the 278 also list an enclosed outdoor space, which is the difference between a garden you can let a dog into and one you cannot.

The 278 that take dogs

Booking links on these earn us a commission. The price you pay is the same either way.

These are the 48 whose owners state the most about the property. All 278 are on the stay index, filtered to dogs, where party size and bedrooms narrow them further.

What this page does not tell you

Which walks take dogs. That is recorded for 20 of the 146 routes on this site. The other 126 say nothing either way, so check with the landowner before you set out, particularly in lambing season.

Access rules for dogs are not the same in Scotland as in England and Wales, and some of them change with the season. The Countryside Code, published jointly by Natural England and Natural Resources Wales, covers England and Wales. The Scottish Outdoor Access Code, which NatureScot has a duty to keep under review, covers Scotland. This page publishes neither, because a rule printed here in August is a rule somebody reads in March.

Each of the 98 refusals is on that property's own page, in the merchant's own words and next to the date somebody read them.
